England Defeats Bangladesh By 8 wickets at Abu Dhabi Yesterday

What a tremendous performance by team England! With opener Jason Roy spearheading the chase of 125 with a 38-ball 61, England cruised to an eight-wicket victory over Bangladesh. England won their second game in Group 1 of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, with Dawid Malan remaining unbeaten with 28 runs.

Bangladesh were stopped in their tracks by English off-spinner Moeen Ali’s twin strike in the third over of the encounter at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Mahmudullah (19) and Mushfiqur Rahim (29) added 37 runs for the fourth wicket to repair the damage. Bangladesh lost their battle after part-time spinner Liam Livingstone removed them, as they slumped to their second loss of the competition. However the odds were in England’s favour to win the Group 1 match against Bangladesh yesterday. Though it was not as easy as it seemed, especially because the Abu Dhabi pitch’s slowness may suit Bangladesh’s spinners better. However, Mahmudullah’s team struggled to get off to a good start in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, as Sri Lanka outplayed them. Bangladesh’s primary player is allrounder Shakib Al Hasan, whose left-arm spin offers a real threat to an England side heavy on stroke-players.

With Bangladesh taking on the West Indies tomorrow and England taking on Australia the next day, it will be intriguing to watch if things work out for both teams!
