Ben Stokes, the most wanted all-rounder at the moment is all set to join his teammates. The England and Rajasthan Royals all-rounder is finally heading to UAE from New Zealand.
Stokes had left New Zealand and will reach Dubai in the early hours of Sunday morning and will complete his mandatory isolation of six days before joining his team. The isolation also included the clearing of three tests that is the protocol for this year’s IPL.
Ben Stokes had left England in the middle of the Test series against Pakistan when he went to New Zealand to his ailing father who was diagnosed with brain cancer. The ECB allowed Stokes to leave in the middle of the truncated English summer meaning that he missed the two Tests and T20I series against Pakistan and complete limited-over series against Australia.
Stokes had done some preparations on his own while he was in New Zealand. He used the facilities of his first cricket club, Sydenham Cricket Club. In an Instagram post, he said, “Been great being in Christchurch where it all began,” he said in another Instagram post. “Thanks to Sydenham Cricket for letting me use their facilities to bowl in.”
Rajasthan Royals will welcome Stokes as they are currently on a two-match losing streak. Their campaign started with a couple of wins but now they registered two losses in as many games. With Steve Smith, Jos Buttler, Tom Curran, and Jofra Archer as the four overseas players in the first four matches, Tom Curran looks to lose his place to accompany Stokes. It will also strengthen their inexperienced middle-order.
