The Shikhar Dhawan effect

Shikhar Dhawan has been in top form in this year’s IPL and he has to play a major role if the team wants to win the title. On October 20, Dhawan became the first man to score back-to-back centuries in IPL history. He is the leading run-scorer for the team with a tally of 465 runs that include two 50s and two 100s. An average of 66 in this year’s IPL, Dhawan certainly is the go-to batsman at the bowlers and the teams will want to remove him as quickly as possible.

Shikhar Dhawan has very cleverly adapted to according to the situation in this year’s IPL. His opening partner, Prithvi Shaw has also been performing for the team and when he is on song, Dhawan openly gives his junior-mate chance to drive the innings and just sit back and hold the other end.

Stable playing XI

Delhi Capitals are one of the few teams that haven’t struggled too much in this year’s IPL and have certainly find their perfect playing XI. Apart from injuries, they haven’t altered their playing XI much and looks to dominate the sides with the same players.

Batting unit led by Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw, followed by the captain Shreyas Iyer, and the explosive batsmen to follow that include Rishabh Pant, Marcus Stoinis, and Shimron Hetmyer.

The bowling unit is led by proteas speed star Kagiso Rabada and his national teammate, Anrich Nortje. That is followed by the spin-effect of Axar Patel and R Ashwin and in between the medium-paced bowling of Tushar Deshpande.

South African duo attack

Kagiso Rabada is the leading wicket-taker in the IPL 2020 and is clearly five wickets ahead of his next compatriot, Mohammed Shami. With 21 wickets to his name, Rabada has provided excellent starts to the team and at the death, is an excellent option to contain the batsmen by reading their minds.
