Ishant Sharma Ruled out of IPL 2020, Concern on fitness for Aussie Tour

Ishant Sharma is out of IPL 2020 due to an abdominal muscle tear. Sharma suffered a back spasm while training before the IPL and has played only one game since. The Delhi Capitals have asked for a replacement for their pacer.

Ishant’s injury is their fourth injury this season. While Ashwin recovered from his shoulder injury and Pant is expected to be back by next week, Amit Mishra was ruled out completely.

The Capitals, who are well placed in the table, have a strong bench and may not feel their experienced pacer’s absence.

Ishant Sharma’s injury may create issues for the Indian side. With the Australian tour in December, the Indian selectors would be hoping he is fit. With Bhuvneshwar Kumar already ruled out of the IPL and possibly the Australian tour, the Indians hope to get the best they can for the series.

Ishant’s loss would be immense for the Indians as he has been on every trip to Australia since 2008. If he is fit, this will be his fifth time touring Australia, and with his role well defined in the test side, he will surely be an imperative member.

He is three short of being the second Indian fast bowler after Kapil Dev gets to 100 tests.
