Chennai Super Kings innings – Jadeja, others took the score to a challenging one
You may never understand the thinking of MS Dhoni until and unless you are MS Dhoni. The big surprise of the day; Sam Curran is opening the innings for CSK.
Winning the toss and batting first, it was Sam Curran and Faf du Plessis to arrive first at the crease. To much anticipation, it was
Du Plessis had to wait for almost ten minutes to face the first ball and he’s gone, out first ball. An in-swinging delivery from Sandeep Sharma got the better of du Plessis as he edges the ball to the keeper.
Shane Watson the next man in. Things were slow till the third over. The 4th over started with bang bang, two fours and two sixes in the over by Curran to Khaleel Ahmed. Curran’s short cameo came to an end in the next over as Sandeep Sharma knocked bowled him with a beauty. Curran scored a quick 31 out of the total of 35 runs at the time of his departure.
Ambati Rayudu and Watson got together. Tough times for CSK as they will look to win as many matches from their remaining seven fixtures. The pair ensure to get some runs on the board. They build an 81-run partnership for the third wicket.
Although Watson and Rayudu played slowly for their 42 and 41 respectively, the score reached 120 in the 17th over at the time when Watson departed. They both defied the spin attack of Rashid Khan and Shahbaz Nadeem as both the spinners remained wicketless in the night.
MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja make sure to finish the innings on a high. Handy cameos from both of them took the score to 167 with quick 20s. 47 runs in the final 22 balls to the score to a challenging one for SRH.

Gritty bowling and tight line-and-lengths from the bowlers had restricted the SRH batsmen to score freely and quickly. Ravindra Jadeja had bowled Jonny Bairstow in the 10th over with his arm ball. After 10 overs completion, the score was 60-3 leaving too much work to do for Kane Williamson and others to do against might bowling attack of CSK.
SRH batsmen kept on losing wickets without building healthy partnerships. Williamson stuck to the crease for the longer time for his 57 runs.
Sunrisers required 46 runs from 18 balls.
Dhoni turned to Karn Sharma for his final over. But it turned out to be an expensive over. Got the important wicket of Kane Williamson on the second ball, Rashid Khan and Shahbaz Nadeem took the score over tally to 19 runs.

Shardul Thakur came in for his 2nd over. And he walked off by just conceding five runs in the over that included the hit wicket of Rashid Khan.

DJ Bravo is too good a bowler to concede 20 runs in the over. He took CSK over the line with a 20-run win conceding just one run in the over and taking the wicket of Shahbaz Nadeem.
Little cameos from batsmen didn’t help the SRH to take them to win.
