Karachi Kings vs Peshawar Zalmi Match Prediction, PSL 2020
After defeat in last season’s final, Peshawar Zalmi start their 2020 Pakistan Super League campaign against Karachi Kings. The match takes place at Karachi’s National Stadium on February 21 and the live action starts at 14:00 local time.
Zalmi have added Shoaib Malik and big-hitting Englishmen Tom Banton and Liam Livingstone to the team which finished second last season. They have also retained the services of Kamran Akmal, Darren Sammy and Imam-ul-Haq, but they will start the tournament without Kieron Pollard due to international commitments.
Karachi Kings, on the other hand, are looking to improve on last season’s fourth-place finish. The Kings have Babar Azam and Mohammad Amir in their squad and have signed Alex Hales and Chris Jordan for this year’s tournament.
Peshawar Zalmi lost the toss and were asked to bat in their most recent match in Karachi – last year’s final. They mat want to field first this time.
A little cloudy, but otherwise warm and dry, conditions will be good in Karachi.

Karachi Kings finished 4th in the points table last season and were knocked out in the Eliminator match against Islamabad United. Alex Hales who had scored 41 for Islamabad in the chase, will be playing for Karachi Kings this season. In addition to Alex Hales, Chadwick Walton and Cameron Delport have also been transferred from Islamabad United to Karachi Kings this season.
Left-arm fast bowler Mohammad Amir, right-arm leg-break Usama Mir, and all-rounder Imad Wasim are retained by Karachi Kings for PSL 2020. Mitchell McClenaghan and Chris Jordan will be joining the Karachi bowling attack this season. While Colin Munro and Liam Livingstone will not feature Karachi Kings in PSL 2020, Alex Hales and Cameron Delport will be seen in the top 3 followed by Chadwick Walton in the middle-order.
The runners-up of PSL 2019, Peshawar Zalmi has a strong looking squad for this season. Wicket-keeper batsman Tom Banton will be joining Peshawar squad this year while Liam Livingstone was transferred to Zalmi from Karachi Kings. With 6 all-rounders in the squad including the skipper Darren Sammy, the side looks well-equipped when it comes to big-hitting. Some of these all-rounders include the experienced Shoaib Malik and bowling all-rounders Lewis Gregory and Carlos Brathwaite.
Kamran Akmal and Imam-ul-Haq had both scored fifties against Islamabad United in the 2nd Eliminator of PSL 2019 to lead PZ to the Final. The two will be crucial at the top while Darren Sammy needs to figure out a way to include Tom Banton in the side. The batting line-up looks solid and Sammy will be confident going into their first match of the season. Wahab Riaz, Hasan Ali, and Rahat Ali will the bowlers to watch out for in the pace department.

Both teams seem equally stacked up against each other. While Peshawar Zalmi has a wide range of all-rounders with good batting abilities, Karachi Kings seem to have an edge in the bowling department. With the likes of Mohammad Amir, McClenaghan, and Chris Jordan in the squad, the Kings will be confident bowling at National Stadium, in Karachi.
