Lahore Qalandars vs Quetta Gladiators Match Prediction, PSL 2020
Winless Lahore Qalandars are back in Lahore and will bid to end their losing streak when they take on defending Pakistan Super League champions Quetta Gladiators. The match, at the Gaddafi Stadium, takes place on March 3 and is scheduled to start at 19:00 local time.
The Qalandars have lost all three games they have played so far this season, having ended last season’s tournament in losing form too. Dilbar Hussain took 4-24 against Peshawar Zalmi last time out, in a reduced 12-over game, but the Qalandars could not take advantage as they posted 116/6 in reply to 132/7.
Quetta are also looking to get back to winning ways, however, after falling short against Multan Sultans last time out. Shane Watson hit 80 from 41 balls to get back to his best form, but the Gladiators – who has chased 188 to beat Islamabad in the previous game – could only score 169/7 in reply to 199/5.
Lahore Qalandars lost the toss in their two previous matches at the Gaddafi Stadium and may therefore want to field first if they win the toss this time.
Superb, clear and sunny conditions are forecast on Tuesday for Lahore.
The Lahore wicket has been well-balanced so far, offering a little for everyone.
With 3 losses in 3 matches so far in PSL 2020, Lahore Qalandars are at the bottom in the points table. This will be their 3rd match at home after losing two previous matches. Lahore had scored 182-6 against ISU and 138-8 against Multan Sultans batting first. In their last match, Qalandars were chasing a target of 133 runs in 12 overs against PSZ.
Chris Lynn’s 30 off 15 balls and Samit Patel’s unbeaten 34 off 15 balls were the highlights of Qalandars’ chase. While LHQ lost by 16 runs, Mohammad Hafeez and Fakhar Zaman will be looking to make comeback as they come back to Lahore. Hafeez had scored unbeaten 98 runs against Islamabad at this venue.
Shaheen Afridi had picked 4 for 18 in the same match defending 182 runs at this venue. In addition, Dilbar Hussain picked 4 for 24 in the last match against PSZ and along with David Wiese will be the bowler to watch out for.
Gladiators have an opportunity to tie with Multan Sultans in the points tally with a win here at Lahore. While QTG is presently at number 2 with 6 points (3 wins, 2 losses), the recent loss came after two consecutive wins. Shane Watson’s 80 off 41 balls couldn’t help Gladiators chase a 200-runs target against Multan Sultan as the middle-order collapsed.
However, prior to the loss at Multan, Quetta Gladiators had successfully chased down 190 and 157 runs target with 5 wickets in hand. Sarfaraz Ahmed, Azam Khan, and Ben Cutting have crucial roles in the middle-order. These batsmen need to put in significant contributions to gain an edge over the hosts, Lahore Qalandars.
While Jason Roy and Shane Watson look in good touch, Sarfaraz Ahmed might promote himself to the top 4 followed by Ben Cutting, Mohammad Nawaz at numbers 6 and 7. Mohammad Nawaz, Sohail Khan, and Mohammad Hasnain are the players to watch out for in the QTG bowling attack.
Our Prediction for Lahore Qalandars vs Quetta Gladiators
Quetta Gladiators to win the match
While Lahore hasn’t had a great run at home, Quetta Gladiators have done relatively well with the bat. LHQ has failed to come together as a unit when it comes to the batting effort. Remember Qalandars have got big hitters like Fakhar Zaman, Chris Lynn, and Mohammad Hafeez in the top 4.
Whereas, Quetta Gladiators have Watson and Jason Roy in great form at the top while Sarfaraz Ahmed and Ben Cutting have been crucial in their successful chases. There’s not much of a difference between the two sides on the top betting sites in India with the bookmakers giving the home team a slight edge over the visitors.
