After playing two matches at Lahore, Multan Sultans will now play their next 3 matches at Multan. The Sultans defeated Lahore Qalandars at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore in their 1st match of PSL 2020. While MS lost 5 wickets in their successful chase of the 139-runs target against Qalandars, they finished with 164-8 batting first against Islamabad in the next match.
The batting performances from the top 4 have been inconsistent and lack partnerships. While James Vince and Moeen Ali were out for 18 and 11 runs in the successful chase, Ali and Rilee Rossouw were out for 10 and 0 at numbers 3 and 4 in the last match. Vince (42) and wicket-keeper batsman Zeeshan Ashraf (50) helped the Sultans reach 164 runs total. All-rounder Shahid Afridi had played a big role in the chase against Qalandars with his unbeaten 21 off 12 balls.
Imran Tahir, Mohammad Irfan, and Moeen Ali were very expensive and failed to bag any wickets. Mohammad Ilyas has shown some consistency with his bowling and the skipper Shan Masood will rely on him in the next game. Sultans need wickets from the bowlers who bowl their full quota of 4 overs.
Peshawar Zalmi lost their opening match at Karachi against the Kings while bouncing back in the next game against Quetta Gladiators at the same venue. Kamran Akmal, Liam Livingstone, and Daren Sammy put in the good effort while chasing 202-runs against Karachi Kings while falling short by 10 runs.
In the next game, the bowlers pulled themselves back and restricted the Gladiators to just 148-5 in 20 overs. Wahab Riaz was the top bowler for Peshawar with 2 for 21 while Hasan Ali finished none for 22 in his 4 overs. Tom Banton and Shoaib Malik failed to make a mark in the chase once again. However, Karman Akmal’s 101 off 55 balls helped the side chase down the target in the 19th over with 6 wickets in hand.
Liam Livingstone and Liam Dawson add strength and depth to Peshawar Zalmi’s batting line-up at numbers 5 and 6. They are followed by skipper Darren Sammy who’s known for his big-hitting while Wahab Riaz is handy with the bat at number 8.

Peshawar Zalmi has a solid batting line-up with Tom Banton, Kamran Akmal, and Shoaib Malik in the top 4. Though Tom Banton hasn’t found his form in the subcontinent so far, Akmal, Livingstone, and Sammy have a good experience playing here and look in good touch.
On the bowling front, Peshawar Zalmi is clearly ahead of the Multan Sultans. Multan Sultans struggled to pick wickets defending 164 runs in the last match. Zalmi, on the other hand, have Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Amir Khan, and Hasan Ali in form.
