Who will win Perth Scorchers vs Sydney Thunder, BBL 2020?
Perth Scorchers will look to get back on track when they welcome Sydney Thunder to the Optus Stadium in the 2019-20 Big Bash League on January 20. The live action gets underway at 21:40 local time.
The Scorchers were in good form before back-to-back defeats against runaway leaders Melbourne Stars hurt their momentum. They are looking to get back to winning ways, but will need an improved batting performance after being dismissed for 86 last time they were at home.
Sydney Thunder, meanwhile, have been inconsistent this season but won last time out – bowling the Sixers out for 76 in a rain-affected Sydney Derby before there was just enough time to get ahead of the DLS par score before the match was curtailed.
Perth Scorchers should not be put off by the fact they were so poor after winning the toss and batting first last time they were at the Optus Stadium. It still looks the best tactic normally.
PRS vs SYT Weather Report
There will be some humidity to contend with in the evening, but Perth is otherwise set to be hot, clear and sunny throughout Monday.
PRS vs SYT Pitch Condition
Optus Stadium is usually a good batting wicket and, though the Scorchers struggled last time out, that remains the case.
Mitchell Marsh’s side has dropped its position in the points table with back to back losses against the Melbourne Stars. It was a poor show by their batsmen in the last game where they lost by 10 runs. Marsh would have been terribly upset with the way his batsmen played as they failed to chase down an easy target of 142 runs after having got a good start in the game. As they play against Sydney Thunder at home the pressure would now be on the side to perform. One more loss can put them in a spot of bother as far as making it to the playoffs of the season is concerned.
Josh Inglis and Liam Livingstone are doing well at the top and both these players have scored in the season. They will look to lay a strong foundation in the next game. Cameron Bancroft and Marsh makes a formidable middle order of the side. It is down the order that they failed in the last game shall look for a good show from the likes of Kurtis Patterson, Tim David, and Cameron Green. Their bowling attack looks good at the moment with Jhye Richardson and Chris Jordan in good form. Matthew Kelly also bowled well in the last game. Marsh and Fawad Ahmed will look to provide good support for the main bowlers going into this game.
It was a good win in the last game against the Sydney Sixers for Callum Ferguson’s. In a rain-affected game, they were able to keep their opponents to a low score and finally won the game by 4 runs under the DLS method. Ferguson would have been very happy with this way his bowlers performed in the game after having suffered at the hands of the Melbourne Renegades in the previous match. Sitting 4th on the points table the side will look to win the next one against Scorchers and move up. Known that their opponents aren’t in the best of form the skipper would be looking for a good show from his side.
They have a good opening pair at the top and both Alex Hales and Usman Khawaja have done well in recent games. They will have to provide the side with a good start for a win. In the middle order, the likes of Ferguson and Daniel Sams will have to play well as they haven’t been in the best of the form so far in the season. In Alex Ross, Chris Morris and Jay Lenton the side has got good batting down the order. Their bowlers did a good job in the last game where Daniel Sams and Chris Morris stood out with their performances. Gurinder Sandhu playing his first game also did well. With Brendan Doggett and Nathan McAndrew in the side, the bowling attack is looking good at the moment.
Our Prediction for PRS vs SYT
Perth Scorchers shall win this game
The next game of the Big Bash League 2019-20 will be very important for the hosts Perth Scorchers. They come into this game with back to back defeats and this has hurt their confidence levels. They will need to win this one to progress into the playoffs of the season. As for the Sydney Thunder, they are looking well set for a playoff berth at the moment and will look to go closer to this win in the upcoming game. Their win in the last game would make them confident. The stakes are high for both sides in this game and this will make it a good contest for the packed house at the Perth Stadium.
Perth Scorchers are a good team and they have a good record at home and this will give them edge going into this game.
