In a significant blow to the Sunrisers Hyderabad, Indian pacer, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, has been ruled out of IPL 2020 with a thigh injury.
In his place, the Sunrisers have bought in left-arm fast bowler Prithvi Raj Yaara.
He joins Khaleel Ahmed and T Natarajan, who are both left-arm pacers.
Age 21, Prithvi Raj Yaara plays for Andhra Pradesh. With not much domestic experience, Prithvi Raj Yaara was bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2019. He got a chance to play in a couple of matches, while also picking up his new captain, David Warner, who was in great form last season.
Yaara is another notable performance form picking up six wickets in his debut first-class game against Tamil Nadu.
He has represented Andhra, and his ability to pick up wickets in the shorter formats is worth watching. He has a lot of speed to go with his variations, which is what modern-day cricket demands.
He will be filling in a big hole created in the absence of Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Although it is highly unlikely that Yaara will start for the Sunrisers, he may be required later in the tournament, given their pace depth.
Nevertheless, playing for a team like Sunrisers, which contains immense talent, will surely help Yaara grow. Rubbing shoulders with some quality players and coaches may help launch his career in the future.
