Suresh Raina was the most capped IPL players before the start of IPL 2020. Now he is not. MS Dhoni had recently passed as the IPL player with most caps.
IPL 2020 had been started and is in the middle of the group stage with teams have played 4-5 matches. Suresh Raina could have been easily in the playing XI of all the matches of CSK, but unfortunately, he is not.

Raina had left the IPL after arriving in UAE. Whatever the reasons were, Raina made the decision and now is in India and not with MS Dhoni in UAE.
Chennai Super Kings had played five matches so far, winning two and losing three of them. But, has CSK really missed Raina in this year’s tournament?
Well, obviously. You can’t keep out a player who had played for so long over the time and is an integral part of the team since the start of the tournament. A player who is the second-highest run-getter in the history of the tournament, every team would have wanted to be in their side.
CSK performance so far
Chennai Super Kings have won two matches and lost three matches and are currently 6th on the table. Winning the opening match of the tournament against the defending champions, the team had lost three consecutive matches mainly because of their batsmen.
The opening pair for the first three games was Shane Watson and Murali Vijay. The opening pair for the last two matches was Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis.
The middle-order comprised of Ambati Rayudu, Kedar Jadhav, MS Dhoni, and now DJ Bravo. Bravo had not played the first three matches because of a slight knee issue that he incurred in the CPL before IPL.
The early woes
After winning the opening match, CSK lost three matches on the trot. Watson was not performing and had a slight run of form in the first four games. Rayudu had injured after the match-winning innings in the first game and was out for the next two games. Dhoni was not in the best of the touches that also had been acknowledged by Dhoni himself. Faf du Plessis was the only batsmen that had performed reasonably well.
The Harbhajan-less bowling department comprised of Sam Curran, Deepak Chahar, Piyush Chawla had done performed well so far.
In these circumstances, a middle-order batsman was needed to strengthen the middle order. Suresh Raina. CSK had missed him and probably no other batsmen can fill his void. And especially with batting woes, they needed him badly.
But you have to adjust according to the situation and avail all the opportunities that are there. In their last game, the team ended up winning by 10 wickets.
A 181-run partnership between Watson and du Plessis had seen the team home with a comfortable victory over Kings XI Punjab. With Watson returning to form, it will be a big boost to the team.
Suresh Raina is most probably not going to play this season with his CSK team. the team had definitely missed him big time but now have to adjust without the services of Raina.
CSK will play their next match against Kolkata Knight Riders on October 7.
