Who will win Sydney Sixers vs Melbourne Renegades, BBL 2020 Prediction?
Sydney Sixers take on bottom-of-the-league Melbourne Renegades at the SCG as the hosts conclude their league phase schedule and look to keep their hopes of finishing second – and reaching The Qualifier – on track. The match takes place on January 25 and is scheduled to start at 15:40 local time.
The Sixers have bounced back to form with wins against Melbourne Stars and Brisbane Heat to move to eight wins in 13 in total. They can not finish top, but a second place finish will ensure they have two shots at reaching the final through the play-offs.
Melbourne Renegades lost their first nine games in a row, despite being defending champions, to ensure they would not be in the play-offs. They will finish bottom of the league no matter what, and a recent resurgence of back-to-back wins was also ended with a narrow defeat – having been on the brink of victory – last time out too.
SYS vs MLR Toss Prediction
Sydney Sixers were overdue winning the toss when they did exactly that and fielded first in their most recent game. It is an oft-used tactic at the SCG too.
SYS vs MLR Weather Report
Showers are forecast all morning in Sydney but they could clear by the afternoon and, while it will be humid, the match could escape the worst of the weather.
SYS vs MLR Pitch Condition
The SCG is generally well-balanced. There will be some turn, but it has not fully lost its batting credentials either.
Back to back wins in their last two games have given Sydney Sixers the much-needed boost in the final stages of the season. They have recovered well after a few ordinary performances during the middle stage of the league. The side played magnificently in the last game against the Brisbane Heat to register an impressive win by 8 wickets. They ticked all the boxes as far as their batting and bowling is concerned and shall look to play the same brand of cricket at home in the next game. Having defeated the Renegades earlier in the season the side would start confidently in the upcoming game.
The opening pair of Josh Phillippe and James Vince comes into this game after a match-winning partnership in the last game. This will make them confidence going into the game. Steven Smith and Henriques add strength to the middle order and both these players can rotate the strike quickly. In Daniel Hughes, Jordan Silk and Tom Curran the side has good batting to follow. Jackson Bird and Steve O’Keefe will look to grab wickets with the new ball and they look in good form. Tom Curran has been the pick of the bowlers for the side this season. With Ben Dwarshuis and Nathan Lyon in the attack, they look very strong going into this game.
Aaron Finch’s side has had a miserable season. They have won only two out of their twelve games so far and as Finch returns to lead the team he would be pressing hard for a win as the side hasn’t won a single game under his leadership this season. Their four-run loss in the last game against the Hobart Hurricanes summarized their confidence levels this season where they failed to score 11 runs off the last over after having paced their chase well. With only pride to play for the side will be looking to win the next game and take the last few paces in the season on the right note.
The opening pair of Marcus Harris and Aaron Finch will need to provide a good start to the side. The pair hasn’t enjoyed the best of form in the season. Shaun Marsh, Sam Harper, and Beau Webster have played well and they will need to score well in the middle order for the side’s win. Mohammad Nabi comes into the game after a great knock in the last outing and along with Daniel Christian completes a good bowling attack for the side. It is their bowling attack that will have to do well in the next game. Kane Richardson coming in a big plus for the side but the likes of Nabi, Cameron Boyce, Christian, and Jake Wildermuth will need to do well in the game.

With the last win, the Sydney Sixers have assured themselves of a berth in the playoffs of the Big Bash League 2019-20. As the side now takes on the Melbourne Renegades at home in the last game they will look to gain confidence before the playoffs. They are looking in great form at the moment. On the other hand, it will be another test of character for the Melbourne Renegades who have had to deal with losses one after the other. It will be interesting to see how the Renegades approach in the next game and whether they are able to upset the crowds at the SCG.
Sydney Sixers are in great form at the moment and going into this game at home they will surely start as favorites.
