BBL 2019-20 Match 42 Squad Comparison

Sydney Thunder

Callum Ferguson’s side just fails to maintain its form and this has been the story for the side so far in the season. After ten games the side has won only four and is currently struggling at the sixth place in the points table. They were unlucky to have lost out against the Melbourne Renegades by 12 runs under the DLS method. Without the rain, the side would have managed to pull off a win. Having lost against the Sixers in the earlier game in the Super Over the side will look forward to doing well in the next game. They need to win this one to keep their hopes alive to earn a berth in the playoffs.

Alex Hales and Usman Khawaja have had a mixed season so far opening the batting and the side’s fortune in the next game can very well depend on how these two players start. Ferguson and Daniel Sams to have been inconsistent and they will need to play to their potential in the next game. In Alex Ross, Chris Morris and Jay Lenton the side has a good batting line-up lower down the order. They will need a good start from Sams and Chris Morris with the new ball as their opponents have a very strong batting line-up. Brendan Doggett did bowl well in the last game and this will add to his confidence. The likes of Jonathan Cook and Nathan McAndrew will need to dry up the runs in the middle overs going into the next game.

Sydney Sixers

It was a rain washout for Moises Henriques’ side in the last game against the Hobart Hurricanes. The skipper would have been upset with the no result as his side looked in good position batting first. They have played well so far in the season winning six out of their ten games and sitting comfortably in the 2nd spot on the points table. A win in the upcoming game would take them close to a berth in the playoffs. Having defeated Thunder earlier in the season in an exciting contest Henriques would be eager to repeat the success in the second derby of the season.

They have a strong opening combination in Josh Phillippe and Daniel Hughes. The pair has done well with the former being among the top run-scorers this season. James Vince hasn’t played to his potential and shall look to do well in the next game. Moises Henriques is finally striking the ball well which is a confidence booster for the side. With Jordan Silk and Tom Curran down the order, they pack a good punch in their batting. Tom Curran has done well with the ball. Ben Dwarshuis has also been in good form with the ball. The side will need a good show from the likes of Justin Avendano and Jackson Bird in the next game.
