Trinbago Knight Riders vs Guyana Amazon Warriors Match Prediction – CPL 2020 1st Match

Trinbago Knight Riders

The 1st match of the Caribbean Premier League 2020 will be played between Trinbago Knight Riders vs Guyana Amazon Warriors at the Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba in Trinidad | CPL 2020

The 3 time CPL T20 champions, Trinbago Knight Riders will take on Guyana Amazon Warriors in the opening match of CPL 2020. Kieron Pollard will continue to lead the Knight Riders. While they’ve let go of NZ batting all-rounder James Neesham, Riders have signed up NZ wicket-keeper batsman Tim Seifert. In addition to batting all-rounders from the last season – Munro, Bravo, Pollard, and Tion Webster, TKR squad now feature Sikandar Raza for CPL T20 2020.

The batting line-up is pretty much the same from last season with Lendl Simmons at the top followed by Munro and Bravo in the middle and skipper Pollard in a finisher’s role. Last season, TKR experimented with the second opener’s position trying out James Neesham, Sunil Narine, and Tion Webster alongside Lendl Simmons. Tim Seifert’s including in the squad will add strength to their middle-order while the major changes this season are in the bowling department.

The pacers from CPL 2019 – Chris Jordan, Mohammad Hasnain, Seekugge Prasanna will not be featuring in Trinbago Knight Riders squad for 2020 season. While Khary Pierre, Ali Khan, and Anderson Phillip continue to be part of the bowling attack, Sunil Narine will be joined by Fawad Ahmed and Pravin Tambe in the spin department.

Guyana Amazon Warriors

Guyana Amazon Warriors have made it to the Final of CPL T20 most number of times – 5. After losing to Trinbago Knight Riders in the 2018 CPL T20 Final, Guyana lost to Barbados Tridents in 2019 Final at the same venue. While Shoaib Malik has left the franchise this season, Warriors will be looking for a new captain to lead them in 2020.

Shimron Hetmyer and Brandon King are the players in the side in addition to the more experienced Ross Taylor. Taylor can bring experience in the middle-order and play the role of a finisher alongside Nicholas Pooran. Batting all-rounders like Sherfane Rutherford and Chandrapaul Hemraj give Warriors great options in the batting department.

While Qais Ahmed and Ben Laughlin aren’t a part of the squad this season, the side will rely on Imran Tahir in the bowling department. The 20-year old right-arm fast-medium bowler from Afghanistan, Naveen-ul-Haq also joins Guyana squad for CPL 2020 along with Windies left-arm orthodox bowler Ashmead Nedd. All-rounders like Chris Green and Keemo Paul will be crucial given the lack of experience in the bowling department for Guyana Amazon Warriors.

Trinbago Knight Riders: Dwayne Bravo, Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine, Colin Munro, Fawad Ahmed, Darren Bravo, Lendl Simmons, Khary Pierre, Tim Seifert, Sikandar Raza, Anderson Phillip, Pravin Tambe, Jayden Seales, Amir Jangoo, Tion Webster, Akeal Hosein, Muhammad Ali Khan.

Guyana Amazon Warriors: Imran Tahir, Nicholas Pooran, Brandon King, Ross Taylor, Shimron Hetmyer, Chris Green, Keemo Paul, Sherfane Rutherford, Romario Shepherd, Naveen-ul-Haq, Chandrapul Hemraj, Kevin Sinclair, Ashmeade Nedd, Odean Smith, Anthony Bramble, Jasdeeo Singh, Kissoondath Magram.

Both teams are strong in the batting department with some exciting new signings for the 2020 season. Trinbago Knight Riders have signed two-leg break bowlers this season – Pravin Tambe and Fawad Ahmed. Even if only one of them makes it to the playing XI, alongside Sunil Narine, they’ll make a great impact.

Imran Tahir has been impressive in the T20 format all around the globe and will be the key bowler for Guyana this season. However, Warriors are likely to rely on him more while Knight Riders have great many bowling options including Dwayne Bravo.
