Shane Watson, the Aussie veteran, and Faf du Plessis lead Chennai Super Kings to an effortless and smooth 10 wicket victory over Kings XI Punjab in the battle of the table bottom teams. Setting a reasonable target of 179 for CSK in Dubai pitch, the experienced duo chased the score with ease in the 18th over.
In the 18th match of IPL 2020, Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab, the bottom two teams out of the eight played to gather some momentum after early victories in the tournament. Watson and du Plessis once again proved their inclusion in the team and showed the importance of experience in a crucial match. The duo played nearly flawless innings to chase the target with 14 balls to spare and register the second win for CSK.
Kings XI Punjab innings – KL Rahul shines once again
To leave Chris Gayle out, you must have great courage in you. Sitting on the bench so far in the five matches, Gayle hasn’t been given the chance in this year’s IPL, and his counter-part, Mayank Agarwal has done nothing wrong so far to leave him out of the side.

Shardul Thakur, though expensive picked up two wickets. Ravindra Jadeja and Piyush Chawla also picked up one wicket each. Deepak Chahar was economical. He conceded just 17 runs in his three overs.

Shane Watson, before the start of the tournament, had said that not many teams had shown belief in players as CSK did last year and he almost won them the title just to run out inches of the crease to lose the final by one run against Mumbai Indians.
Watson, once again is under scrutiny in this year’s IPL. Having played all CSK’s matches so far, he hadn’t contributed so much in the team’s cause.
Faf du Plessis, on the other hand, has done all good so far. Before the start of the match, he was 3rd on the list of top runs scorer of the tournament.
But, tonight against KXIP, Watson showed his importance and worth in the team.

Leaving Murali Vijay out of the team, du Plessis found his position in the team as an opener. Complementing each other, they aced the chase to become the first team to win in Dubai chasing the target.
That is the second-highest chase in the IPL history without losing a wicket. With 14 balls to spare, they got to the target and got the important two points.
