Williamson topples Kohli, Smith to end 2020 as no 1 batsman

Kane Williamson, who has recently led his side to a Test victory over Pakistan, has ended the year 2020 as the world number one batsman leaving behind Virat Kohli and Steve Smith to end the year as the number 2 and number 3 batsmen respectively. Williamson hasn’t topped the Test batting charts since 2015.

In the bowling department, Pat Cummins finished the year as the world’s best Test bowler while Ben Stokes ended the year as the best all-rounder in Tests.

Kane Williamson goes past Kohli, Smith

In the recently concluded whitewash against West Indies, Kane Williamson had scored his highest Test score, 251. Then after the paternity leave for the second Test, he came back and once again scored a winning century in his teams tense win against Pakistan in the two-match Test series. The performances have been rewarded as Williamson ended the year 2020 as the number one ranked Test player.

Virat Kohli finished the year as world number two while Steve Smith ended as world number three batsman.

Earlier, Smith was the top-ranked batsman but after his consecutive failures in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar trophy against India, he slipped to number three spot. Kohli meanwhile, stayed at the number two spot after hitting a half-century in the Adelaide day-night Test.

Pat Cummins leads the bowlers chart
